O Shot

Women deserve optimal sexual pleasure. That’s why there’s the O-SHOT™!

What is the O-SHOT™?

The O-SHOT™ is an innovative platelet-rich plasma treatment developed by Dr. Charles Runels as a technique to increase sexual pleasure and decrease symptoms of urinary incontinence in women affected by either or both concerns.

According to research approximately 60% of women struggle with these conditions. Nearly the same percentage of post-menopausal women suffer from vaginal atrophy, which involves vaginal dryness that can make sexual intercourse more painful than pleasurable. These common complaints may now be addressed in a short office visit in which platelet-rich plasma, or PRP, is introduced to the tissues at the vaginal opening.

Reasons to Consider the O-SHOT

Women who visit our La Mesa and Temecula offices for the O-SHOT may do so because they are ready to regain their desire for sex. Low libido has historically been a difficult problem to manage, and often leads to recommendations for hormone replacement therapy. However, if low libido is a result of low sexual pleasure and an inability to reach orgasm, a better method of treatment is to regenerate the cells that are involved in the female orgasm.

The natural aging process that every woman experiences eventually leads to atrophy within the vaginal canal. Symptoms such as vaginal dryness, painful sex, and urinary incontinence are all related to the biological changes that occur with age. Because PRP, a blood derivative, facilitates cellular renewal, patients treated with the O-SHOT notice healthier vaginal tissue. This, in turn, improves sensations during intercourse.

What to Expect ?

Numerous papers have been published with research data pertaining to the O-SHOT and the use of platelet-rich plasma for vaginal rejuvenation. In the over 8000 published works, there have been zero serious side effects reported from treatment. This may be because PRP is completely natural, derived from a patient’s own blood, and because it is this blood product that stimulates rejuvenation in vaginal tissue.

The O-SHOT procedure takes approximately 15 minutes in the office setting, where we prioritize comfort. Steps to treatment include:

  1. Blood is drawn from the arm and is spun in a high-velocity instrument to separate out platelet-rich plasma.
  2. Topical numbing medication is applied to the treatment area. After initial numbing, a clitoral block, or local anesthetic, is administered. These two steps significantly reduce sensation during treatment to eliminate any discomfort.
  3. The prepared PRP solution is injected into specific areas around the vaginal opening.

Minor swelling and discomfort may be noticed after O-SHOT treatment. This is manageable with Tylenol® or another over-the-counter pain reliever, and should not inhibit normal daily activities.

Dr. Emery began his medical career as a board-certified OBGYN. He is a certified O-SHOT provider trained in the precision technique developed by the creator of this treatment, Dr. Runels.
